The Distance Learning SEN Teaching Assistant Level 3 course will prepare students to become successful SEN Teaching Assistants.  

Teaching Assistants work alongside teachers at the forefront of the classroom, assisting pupils with their learning; this can be individually or on a group basis. TAs carry out an important role within the classroom, initially identifying any learning or social issues that may arise with the pupils.

TAs are taking on increasingly important roles and special needs teaching assistants help children with a wide range of learning, physical or behavioural difficulties.

for example:

  • behavioural/social (eg difficulty making friends)
  • reading and writing (eg dyslexia)
  • understanding things
  • concentrating (eg Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • physical needs or impairments

Support

The course will be delivered online including Tutor Support for 12 months. All assignments are marked by one of our professional Tutors who will offer regular feedback and guide you through your course. Postal assignments cannot be accepted without prior permission from the tutor and you must have access to email in order to contact your Tutor.

Throughout your course, you'll have the support of a Tutor to guide you. Additionally, you can reach out to the Student Support Team for help with any other questions you may have. You can be assured that you will receive unlimited support for your home study course, so there is no need to struggle or feel isolated during your studies.

Assessment

You must successfully complete a series of assignments. Once all assignments have been completed satisfactorily, you will then be awarded your certificate.  The good news is, there is no final exam.

Will I require any previous knowledge to start this course?

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.

Awarding Organisation

The Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant course has been benchmarked at a level 3 which would give you some indication as to the difficulty of this course.  I.e., GCSE would be equivalent to Level 2 and A’ Level would be equivalent to Level 3.
