Distance/Online Learning

Study a course from anywhere around the world with online learning. With a plethora of different online courses from reputable distance-learning colleges. The world is your oyster; you can take your education as far as possible. You can travel entirely and take a course at your own pace.

Study Abroad

A popular way to combine study and travel is to study abroad, you can do this through university and colleges. You will get the full international student experience while receiving a fresh perspective in the subjects you are studying.

So how do I study abroad?

After you have chosen which path is correct for you there are some things that will need done first:

• Logistics – If you’re traveling far, get passport/visa, book flights, housing and get necessary vaccinations.
• Wise packing – For long journey, take very light and include multi-utilitarian clothes. Don’t forget your electrical adapters!
• Get course approvals – If applicable, obtain necessary sign-offs from your academic advisor prior to departure.
• Check remote access – Confirm you can access online course platforms and materials from your destinations. Please know where you can access your course.
• Set up study time – Block out dedicated times for study every day or week and take it as seriously as any class.
• Familiarize yourself with cultural norms – Learn about customs that could trigger offense, whether they relate to dress, language, etiquette or behavioral faux pas.
• Network – Meet other students; be enterprising about making friends outside your program.
• Be open – Be open to new food, new experiences, new activities. Get out of your comfort zone.
• Stay in touch – Keep lines of communication open with professors, faculty, and support systems from home.

It is also worth noting that not everyone will have the access to education that they may do in their home country.

Making to Work Financially

• Save up – Budget and save as much in advance as possible. Cut unnecessary expenses.
• Scholarships – Find scholarships and grants for study abroad and travel.
• Tutor or teach – Provide virtual tutoring for students overseas in your native language.
• Remote work: Look for skills (such as writing, design or consulting) that can take place online.
• House-sit – House-sit in exchange for free housing when the owners are away.
